Starbucks' New Allergy Friendly Offerings

Starbucks now carries Lucy's cookies at 6,000 of their retail locations in the United States. What does this mean for the every day consumer? Well, it actually means a lot. If you don't have any special diet needs yourself or in your family, you may be oblivious to the fact that many families do. If you do have special diet needs yourself or in your family then you're likely well aware that those needs impact every food/drink/ you ever make. And since most of us make those decisions 3-8 times daily, those needs carry a lot of weight.
Gluten-free, egg free, dairy milk free, peanut free, tree-nut free, butter free, and casein free. Those are the top food allergens that people deal with and those ingredients are nowhere to be found in Lucy's cookies. And luckily for for the folks who must abstain from those ingredients, Starbucks need not be off your list of 'Places Where I Can't Eat'. Dr. Lucy first developed her cookies for the sake of her son, who had many food allergies and couldn't enjoy the average Joe treats his peers enjoyed. So thanks to Dr. Lucy (and yes, she's a real doctor), all of us with special diet needs can now enjoy a crisp, sweet little cookie with our afternoon cup of Joe.
Since this post, I have tried Lucy's cookies at my local Starbucks. I was very excited that MY Starbucks actually had them, so I bought one of ever kind they had. My feedback is this: they are thin, crispy, and crunchy. Small as welll, about 6 in every bag. The Cinnamon Thin and Chocolate Chip are my favorite, whereas the Sugar cookie left me with an unpleasant aftertaste. Shameless to say, I ate both bags of the cookies I liked and half the bag of the cookies I didn't like.

Great post, I am a nutritionist and have not heard of Lucy's. I wonder, are they wheat and soy free too? Curious to hear. And, do they taste good? I had a child you was allergic to eggs, which he fortunately outgrew but I completely relate.
Hey Lauren, thanks for commenting. I don't know if they're wheat free or soy free but I was actually wondering that myself- especially about the soy. I'll do what I can to find out and I'll update this post with the info when I get it. I'm wanting to try them asap, I'll be looking for them at Starbucks!
Thanks, Starbuck“s !!
Here, here!
Great info! Thank you so much! :)
You're welcome. Lucys cookies have me so much more excited about my visits to Starbucks.
